Vocabulary worksheets
A student asked for some more ‘connect the term with its definition’ worksheets as they studied for the CM Level 9 theory test. Here are those worksheets, first broken up by term group and then into 12 randomised groups covering almost the entire vocabulary pool.
These worksheets are based on Julie McIntosh Johnson’s definitions as well as those appearing in the CM Level 9 syllabus from 2012. Not included are cadences, sonata form components, and modes, as those are covered in more depth in the JMJ books and the exercises there develop a deeper understanding that would likely satisfy the requirements in the vocabulary section.
After this worksheet section there’s also a repository of the spreadsheets I used to create these worksheets, if you would like to make more or tailor these to your needs. I do not intend on updating this repository further, unless I have students in the future who need updated versions based on updated CM requirements.

How to use the above spreadsheets:
Each group’s spreadsheet contains one tab per worksheet, with tabs labeled as the definition source (JMJ, CM, ‘selected’, or ‘edited’) and the subset of vocabulary from that group (usually ‘all’). Column C gives the term number for the definition in column D, but the text in column C is painted white to allow for blanks to be printed. Paint it black to print an answer key. Column E is likewise painted white, as it holds a sorting number. The number in column E is generated ~randomly by Excel, and allows for the definitions to be sorted quickly. Simply highlight columns C through E (it is important to make sure you have highlighted column C but not column A), then click “sort” > “custom sort” > sort on column E from smallest to largest (or from largest to smallest, if you wish). The formula in column E should automatically generate a different number each time an action is performed using that column, so you may sort in that manner however many times you would like without needing to refresh any of the formulas.
